Which One Doesn't Belong ❓ - SLJ #6

Hello everyone!

Today I'm making this post for the Summer Learning Journey, or SLJ.

As you know, after every term there is a set of holidays.
In this time off school we chill at home, maybe we go on holiday somewhere or play video games.
After the holidays are over, we do our tests and we are behind so much!
Last time maybe someone got a 3P for maths and now they've gone down to a 2A or 3B.
The Summer Learning Journey was created to help students maintain their skills.

So today I have decided to do the sixth activity.
What I had to do for this activity was to basically do this workbook.
On the slide after the title page is one I made myself.
Tell me what you think the differences are in the comments!

Here is my workbook:

That was pretty fun but some of them were a bit hard.
It didn't take too long to do, maybe thirty to forty minutes.

What was your favourite one?
What differences can you think of?

Cya later, have a nice day!

Optical Illusions ꩜ - SLJ #5

Hello everyone!

Today I'm making this post for the Summer Learning Journey, or SLJ.

As you know, after every term there is a set of holidays.
In this time off school we chill at home, maybe we go on holiday somewhere or play video games.
After the holidays are over, we do our tests and we are behind so much!
Last time maybe someone got a 3P for maths and now they've gone down to a 2A or 3B.
The Summer Learning Journey was created to help students maintain their skills.

So today I have decided to do the fifth activity.
What I had to do for this activity was to basically make an optical illusion.
It took me about 30 minutes to do.

Here is my optical illusion:

This was pretty fun do do although it did take a lot of time to complete.
Next time I would try a swirly one.
There are a lot of different optical illusions, aren't there?
I wonder why our brain sees them this way.

Have you made an optical illusion?
If you haven't, what type would you want to do?
If you have, what type did you do?

Cya later, have a nice day!

What Are You Doing Today ❓ - SLJ #4

  Hello everyone!

Today I'm making this post for the Summer Learning Journey, or SLJ.
As you know, after every term there is a set of holidays.
In this time off school we chill at home, maybe we go on holiday somewhere or play video games.
After the holidays are over, we do our tests and we are behind so much!
Last time maybe someone got a 3P for maths and now they've gone down to a 2A or 3B.
The Summer Learning Journey was created to help students maintain their skills.

So today I have decided to do the fourth activity.
What I had to do for this activity was to basically fill in a workbook.
BTW I think the workbook was missing a slide.

Here is my workbook:

What was challenging was choosing which picture I wanted to do.
Overall, I had a lot of fun with this workbook.
Some things were a bit confusing but that is okay.

To improve I could maybe decorate it or something.

Have you done this activity yet?
Was it fun for you?
If you haven't, do you want to do it?

Cya later, have a nice day!

Insect Art 🐛🎨 - SLJ #3

 Hello everyone!

Today I'm making this post for the Summer Learning Journey, or SLJ.
As you know, after every term there is a set of holidays.
In this time off school we chill at home, maybe we go on holiday somewhere or play video games.
After the holidays are over, we do our tests and we are behind so much!
Last time maybe someone got a 3P for maths and now they've gone down to a 2A or 3B.
The Summer Learning Journey was created to help students maintain their skills.

So today I have decided to do the third activity.
What I had to do for this activity was to basically make an insect out of flora (twigs, leaves, flowers etc.).

Here is my picture:

I think it turned out pretty great.
To improve I think I could probably use a larger variety of materials like maybe more flowers or different types of leaves.

Have you done this activity or something like this before?
What materials did you use if you have?
If you haven't, what materials do you think you would use?

Cya later, have a nice day!

The Summer Learning Journey was created to help students maintain their skills.

So today I have decided to do the second activity.
What I had to do for this activity was to basically use this comic template and write what I thought they were saying.

Here is my comic:

I think I did pretty well with this activity.
I like how it turned out and it wasn't too time consuming.
Anyways, I think to improve I could probably decorate it more and think about what I was writing a bit more.

Have you ever been on a boat before?
Have you done this activity yet?

Your Comments Count 💬 - SLJ #1

 Hello everyone!
Today I'm making this post for the Summer Learning Journey, or SLJ.
As you know, after every term there is a set of holidays.

After the holidays are over, we do our tests and we are behind so much!

So today I have decided to do the first activity.
Here are the steps for this activity:

1. Comment on someone else's blog
2. Take a screenshot of the comment
3. Put the comment onto your blog
4. Write why you think your comment was good

Here is my comment:

I think my comment is good because I made it Positive, Thoughtful and Helpful.
I also added questions to start conversations.

To improve my comment I could've added words like because to make it more detailed.
I will try to do this next time.

Do you make your comments Positive, Thoughtful and Helpful?

Pet Day Pt.1 🐱

 Hello everyone!
Today I'm going to be talking about Pet Day.
Well... what I think it'll be like anyways.

Pet Day is coming up, this Friday actually.
There are going to be a lot of activities we are going to be able to do.

I bet you can't wait for Pet Day and I can't either so look at this slide for a sneak peek and some info...

I think I covered a lot of things that are going to happen on Pet Day.
If you want to find out more about what happens then wait just a little bit because soon I will have a part two out.

Some next steps for me are probably to write what I think I'm going to learn on Pet Day.
I also could have said what animals I was excited to see.
I'll try to put more detail in next time when I have a lot more information.

What animals have you seen at Pet Days?
What's your favourite thing to do on Pet Days?
If you haven't been to a Pet Day before then what would you expect to see?

🦄 SHOCKING SIGHTING OF WINGED HORSES IN THE WILD! 🦄

 Hello everyone!
Today I'm going to be talking about FAKE NEWS!
You can find fake news in a lot of places, but there are a few things to help you identify if what you are reading is fake or real.

With Miss Morgan we worked on making a fake news title and image but we tried to not make it too obvious that it was fake.
I'm not sure if Olivia and I succeeded at making it seem kinda real but too bad because I think it looks cool and it's too late now!

Here is what Olivia and I worked on:

We didn't have too long to think of ideas or put this together but it looks alright so I'm pretty proud.
Next time if I had the chance to do something like this I would probably add something like a herd around it to make it look slightly more real.

Cya later everyone, have a nice day!

How To Write A Letter! ✉️

 Hello bloggers!
Today I'm going to be instructing you on how to write a letter.
Okay, so why am I doing this?
WHY?
Ummm...
I'm not really sure I guess to learn new things but mostly to try and win a competition.
Do I know the prize?
NOPE!
Did I have to do research on this?
YES because I did not know how to write a letter at all.
I do know how to write a thank you card but I don't think that counts.
A lot of people said they were going to do this competition but will they have perseverance?
Have a look at their blogs and see...

hi foxes r cool

Now for the main reason I blogged...
TO WIN!
WAIT NO, NO, NO ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY NOT!
What I meant is to tell you how to write a letter.

Let's get into it!

It was pretty simple to learn how to write a letter, I did look at Zahrah's blog so go there and check it out!
It shouldn't take too long to write a letter using these steps.
If you have any questions then leave them in the comments for me to answer!

Have you written a letter before?
Did you use steps similar to these?

Hello bloggers!
Today I'm going to be instructing you on how to play with a baby and also a baby rabbit.
Okay, so why am I doing this?
WHY?
Ummm...
I'm not really sure I guess to learn new things but mostly to try and win a competition.
Do I know the prize?
NOPE!
Did I have to do research on this?
YES because I did not know how to play with a baby or a baby rabbit.
I do know how to pet a rabbit but I don't think that counts.
A lot of people said they were going to do this competition but will they have perseverance?
Have a look at their blogs and see...

Now for the main reason I blogged... TO WIN!
WAIT NO, NO, NO ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY NOT!
What I meant is to tell you how to play with a baby and a baby bunny.
Let's get into it!

Next time I will try to be more thorough with what I'm explaining.
I'm not sure what my next steps are... can you tell me?

Hello everyone!

Today I'm going to be telling you about the awesome student summit.
But its level two!

Yes I know, we did all the workshops on a google MEET!
Last time I went to a student summit it was in a big open hall and you didn't have to wear PAINFUL headphones.
I bet you want to know more about what we did at the student summit so then if you do come and have a little peek at this slide!

I learnt so much from this year's student summit!
It was very different wearing headphones and doing it online than it was when I did it last time I went.

Arthur's Pass Camp Series #1: The Sensory Trail 🔦

Boom!
Crash!
What was that noise?
Kon'nichiwa, It's Amelia here and today I'm talking about the sensory trail on camp.
First things first, a week and a half ago we went on camp to Arthur's Pass.
No more important information for you right now though...
Anyways if you want to know more about the sensory trail and what it was like for me then you're in the right place!

In the end it wasn't as bad and I actually enjoyed it.
It was still a bit scary because of how it was really dark.

The sky had an orange tint (probably because of the street lights) which was also a bit creepy.

Most of you have probably been on camp before, so here are a few questions:
What was your highlight on a camp you've been on?
What was your least favorite part about a camp you've been on?

How 2B A Quality Speech Writer

Kon'nichiwa!
Today I'm going to be talking to you about how to write a good speech and my feelings when I presented my speech.
Writing a quality speech takes hard work, a lot of time, and also editing.
The thing is, our class had to have a quality speech written, practiced, and on cue-cards in a week.
We didn't have much time, but I think a lot of the speeches turned out amazing!
Well, I can't keep you waiting too long, can I?
Okay fine, here is how to be a quality speech writer!

I hope this slideshow helped you. It took a lot of effort and time to make.
Right before I started my speech, I was freaking out, well, inside my head.
Obviously I didn't try to let anyone know that I was petrified.
Anyways, afterwards I didn't feel so bad.
I felt like I presented a quality speech calmly in front of a few people.
Trust me, your feelings after presenting a speech are a lot better than they were before.
I just tried to focus on my speech, I tried to block everything else out.
I tried to look at people and make eye contact but I tried to not realize they were real people.

Have you written your speech this year?
What are/were your feelings about presenting it?

I have a dream... 🤔💭

Konnichiwa!
We are about to start our learning on speeches in Rimu.
When I found out, I was so excited!
It's kind of sad though because Zahrah and Olivia both apparently HATE speeches!
Before we get into all the creating and deep learning, we had a task to do to train our brain. In order to set up our mindset for speeches, we used the six tools in the mental toughness toolkit to create a motivational drawing of ourselves.
We used google drawings to make these.
MY dream for how it will all go: I want to be confident and I want to speak loudly. I know it's a lot to ask but I hope that maybe just maybe I can make a change.
My DLO is below!

While I was designing this google drawing I thought about me on a stage and how people would be watching me but I would still be happy and calm.
I have to admit though, the hardest part will be staying calm during the presentation.
The easiest part during this will be writing a first draft; it's always easy and fun!
I chose these tips for myself because I want to be calm and loud and confident. I know it will be hard but I'll try my best.

Have you wrote a speech before?
What was it about?
What did you write it about and why?

If you are writing a comment on this blog, you could choose to use these cool sentence starters:

INTRO: Hello my name is... and I'm from... school.
POSITIVE: I liked the way you...
THOUGHTFUL: This reminded me of...
HELPFUL: To improve, you could...

Blog Commenting 💬

What I know about Blog Commenting:
The comment needs to be positive, thoughtful, helpful.
The comment should connect with the person who created the post and give them things to improve on in a positive way.
You have to be careful about what you say in case it offends the person reading the comment.
You don't want to make the comment rude or mean in any way.
The comment should be rather large, five to six sentences.
Give the person you're commenting on feedback on their learning.
Shouldn't have private information such as full name, phone number, and address.

Here is a comment I did on Zahrah's AWESOME blog:

................................................................................................................

Hello Zahrah, my bestie, great to digitally see you again.

I liked the way you have showed one of the pictures that my friend, Olivia, is tracing and put a bunch of information on your slide.

This reminds me of when I did my topic on The Scorching. The Scorching is a time in Wings Of Fire when dragons were at war against humans, cool right!

To improve, you could maybe have called your blog post Wings Of Fire or something like that to match the topic you learnt about, glow to flow is still a really really good title but Wings Of Fire or something similar might match it a little better. Maybe you could've also wrote about FLOW and why we were learning about it to make this post even better!

What is your favourite type of dragon?
Why is it your favourite type of dragon?

Cya later Zahrah, keep it up!

-Amelia

................................................................................................................

Here is a comment I have left on one of my best friends from Te Mahuri:

................................................................................................................

Hello Paige my bestie, It's me, Amelia!

I liked the way you have shown a cool picture of what you made, it seems a bit scary in that room don't you think? I like how you explained what you have been learning about and why you drew that picture as well.

This reminds me of when my friend Olivia designed a beetle for reading work and it had a mermaid tail and wings and other crazy stuff. (I know, its totally random but its the first thing I thought of on this post!)

To improve, maybe you could add a slide with the picture on it or maybe a bit more about your reading work or a funny goodbye gif at the end. (Don't forget to put the gif's link in!)

Why did you think to make this blog post?
What was your favourite part in the book?

Cya later Paige, keep it up!

VOTE RIGHT NOW!

Kon'nichiwa everyone!
Today I'm going to be talking about a writing competition that our class is doing.
So basically the teacher made a slideshow for us to write on.
We had the choice between a compelling mystery, a news report, and a rhyming poem.
There are a few rules though...
I think it has to be 150 words or less otherwise you get disqualified.
There are certain words you need to have in it though like brains, work, intelligence, and things like that.
The reason that there are highlighted words is because we needed to highlight words like work, coordination, and brains.
There are a list of 28 words like that but I'm running out of time so I can't write it all.
Well if you want to cast a vote, here is the link!

I think I did pretty well and that my writing is pretty good.
I'm not going to tell you which one is mine though...

Have you done a writing competition like this before?
Did you have any rules?

🖊️ My Teacher Broke A Pen 🖊️

Hello everyone!
My teacher broke a pen.
Yes, my teacher broke a pen just for its spring.
Why did she need a spring, you ask?
Well she was trying to teach us about resilience.
Resilience is basically something being able to be pulled or stretched but then to bounce back, like a spring.
Ms Rennell percepted it as the spring stretching as in having lots of work to do and being stressed.
Then the spring bounces back but the spring is never exactly the same length again.

My resilience is pretty good. When I'm not on task I try to refocus and get back on with my work. I try not to get too distracted by my friends and not argue but we all know it happens sometimes.

Do you think you have much resilience?
Has your teacher broken a pen before?
Do you get distracted by your friends sometimes?

🐀 Start Incredibly Small 🐀

Hello everyone!
Today I'm going to be talking about how you can be successful, and also a guy named James Clear.
On his website we found out about how to get a new habit or skill
The first thing is that they don't sound easy, in fact they sound a bit hard and stressful, and that makes you want to procrastinate.
What is procrastinating, you might ask.
Well procrastinating is putting something off, like watching TV instead of or before doing your homework or chores.

Anyways, I bet you want to learn how to start small and more about James Clear so here's a slide for you to take a peek at.

This tip is really good and it makes me want to do things more and it doesn't seem as hard or stressful.
I think these tips are the key to success and I'm sure even YOU can get a new habit out of them!

Have you used these tips before?
Have you heard of James Clear?
How hard is it for you to start a new habit?
Do you think these tips make it any easier for you?

Spirit Animals!

Kamusta!
Today I'm back with another blog post about the people in my classes' spirit animals.
Oh, you must be wondering why I know everyone's spirit animals.
Well, the reason why is that every day when we sign in on the doc, we have to write something different, and today, we had to write our spirit animals, and so did the teachers.
I made a chart to show the percentages of all the spirit animals in the class.
I didn't know how to make a chart like this before, but this video helped me.

You must be dying to see the chart I made now!
Here it is:

Here's an extra I made about our class's eye colour because I had some extra time:

With the eye colours, isn't brown supposed to be more common than blue, oh I'm just confused.
I didn't really know what many spirit animals would be more common, but it turns out it's mostly wolves and deer.

What's your spirit animal?
What's your eye colour?

Don't forget to leave a comment, follow me, and leave a like on this post!
